The history of BRIMI

At the general meeting of April 8, 1978 the co-operative was given its still valid denomination Milchhof Brixen – BRIMI Gen.m.b.H. based in Vahrn.
Initially, production in the new plant was predominantly oriented to the local market. In autumn 1978, however, first successful attempts were made in the field of mozzarella production after which this promising line of production assumed more and more importance while the production of local cheese types was gradually neglected. In 1992, the production of any type of hard or other cheese was discontinued. In the following years investment activity was focused on continuously acquiring modern mozzarella production technology. When in the 1990s foreign markets were targeted for the first time, this turned out to be the right decision. In 1996, the introduction and application of ISO 9002 quality management system was another milestone in the history of BRIMI, the certificate being awarded to the company in October 1996 by the Austrian Certification and Evaluation Ltd ÖQS. This system is being continuously checked and adapted if necessary. In November 2002 BRIMI achieved the ISO 9001:2000 certificate and as the first and so far only dairy in South Tyrol it was awarded the Hygiene Certification as well.
Today BRIMI is a highly qualified mozzarella manufacturing company well established on the national and international market.

The Seal of Quality for milk and dairy products from South Tyrol guarantees OGM free.
