Hooray, we’re allowed to go outside!

Cows are like children! They get excited every single time they’re allowed out into the yard! You really have to be careful when leading them out, so you don’t get run over or pushed against the wall – that’s how worked up they get! Outside, they start hopping around like they were young foals... which looks quite odd for such big and heavy animals.

And after five minutes, they’re standing there, breathing heavily... you almost have to laugh. By now, they’ve figured out that some get to go out (and come back!) while the others stay in the barn (the next day it’s the other way around), but at the beginning it was a total DRAMA!! The cows that were outside mooed to get back in, and the ones inside mooed to get out... we felt like we were in the wrong movie!

You try to do something nice for your animals – set up a great space, install a water trough, build and hang up a hay rack, get fencing panels, hang up an expensive cow brush... and then they moo for hours and get all worked up! It took a while for them to get used to it, but now it’s all fine… although: they always love coming back in, and with great enthusiasm too – because in their feeding bowl, the lecka is waiting (which unfortunately isn’t available outside).
